Biking on Washington and Brooklyn Bridge

My grandma, aunt, cousin, mom, dad, sister and I went biking on the Washington and Brooklyn Bridge. My cousin and Jasmine got a tag-along. I was in front of my dad and sister. We started out biking along Manhattan. I was very excited because I loved biking.

It was very sunny. After biking on the trail for a while we got to the street. First we were crossing the Washington Bridge. The bridge was made out of steel. It was green. I never knew there was a trail for bikes on the bridge. I thought that it would be hard.

The tour guide told us to turn our gears lower as we went up the hill. I put my gear to five so it would be easier for me to turn my gears down. When I started up there was a hill that I had to walk up. I found a flat place and got on. It seemed very easy to pedal. After going uphill for a while, I passed my grandma.

Suddenly, it started pouring. I was getting wet and freezing. My cousin was lucky because she had a coat. Soon we were going downhill. At the bottom the guide stopped. I told my mom I went down with only gear five. I was very proud.

Next we went on the Brooklyn Bridge. The bridge was made out of brick and was old. Now it is one hundred years old. It took many years to build. It was long and big. At the top we stopped to take some pictures. It started pouring worse. It was too bad I was wearing short sleeves. We went down the bridge. On the way back, it took a long time for us to get down.

After a while on the street we got back to the bike trail. It seemed like a long time before we got back. We returned our bikes and left. It was the best bike ride but would be better if it hadn’t rained.

Horseback Riding

On our last day of vacation we were going to ride horses. I really wanted to ride a horse. When we got to the stables, I saw that the horses were huge. I wondered how I would get on a horse so big.

The woman said “hello” and told us to find a helmet, and it was fine if we used a bike helmet. My mom said that I will wear my bike helmet. I already found a real helmet for riding horses. I wore that because I wanted to be a real horse rider.

The lady introduced us to our horses. My mom’s horse was named Appachi. It was white with brown spots. My grandma’s was white. Jasmine’s is white and is named Adam. Mine’s was brown. It was named Mariah. My dad’s is the same color as mine and is called Hotshot.

We started on the trail. I was behind Adam. It was very fun but a little wobbly. After a while we got in the forest. As soon as we got in the forest, Mariah started eating tree leaves. Adam was far ahead. I told Mariah to catch up. She started trotting. It was very bumpy. I had to hold on tight. We caught up to Adam right before we crossed the brook.

Suddenly, Mariah passed Adam and went behind Appachi. We arrived at a field. Everybody stopped. Hotshot suddenly turned around and ran. We waited for the woman to get him back. While we were waiting, Mariah started eating hay. I tried to make her stop but she wouldn’t stop. Finally, Hotshot came back and Mariah stopped eating.

At last we got to the stable. Appachi immediately ran to the food. Appachi loved to eat, too. Before we left, we each gave our horse a treat. I had fun and couldn’t wait until I got to ride another horse.

Biking

Before we went to our hotel, we were going biking. I have a shiny purple bike. Jasmine wasn’t on tag-along, so she had her pink ‘Barbie’ bike. We couldn’t fit my dad’s bike in the car so we had to go to the bike rental. We got my dad’s bike.

I was the first one on the bike trail. It was very sunny. Suddenly, I heard someone behind me. I turned around to look. Jasmine was catching up! She told me to stop. I stopped. But then she passed me! I biked after her and passed Jasmine.

I looked around me. I saw a lake, and a sailboat. My mom said we should take a break. I drank some water. Then I saw huge, dark stratus clouds. I told my mom. She said that we would go back anyway because my dad needed to return his bike.

On our way back, we needed to cross a road. Jasmine couldn’t stop so she accidently biked into the road. The drivers saw her and stopped. We quickly ran across the road to see if she was okay. She was fine.

We started back to our car. We passed a pond and stopped to drink some water. I picked a couple flowers and found a feather. I started feeling raindrops so we biked to our car. I had fun and was very tired.
