Day Sixteen in China: Trip to 五台山,山西

Today was the big day!! I was so excited to be saved from the boredom of doing nothing at home! We were going to 五台山,山西 to stay 4 days! We were all super, super excited!
On the airplane, we had the worst seating plans ever. Jasmine and my seats were so, so, so far away from my aunt! But even worse, when we got on the plane, the seats were in groups of three! Which meant that Jasmine and I had to sit with a stranger! So my aunt quickly switched around our seats, and I ended up sitting with two strangers while my aunt sat with the two little ones. It was kind of even worse than before for me... but the two were happy, and I guess I could live through it. Ignoring the people beside me as best as I could, I curled up and tried to go to sleep. That didn't work well at all. So I just sat, feeling extremely bored, waiting for the flight to be over.
Even though I didn't sit next to the window, I could see the bright lightning flashing outside, and I could hear the rain pounding and thunder crashing. Each time there was thunder, I got more goosebumps. When were we going to get there? I thought. All of a sudden, the airplane shook. I wobbled in my seat. Well, at least that was fun. I bounced in my seat, thinking, again! Again! And again it came, but this time way more bumpier. I was lifted out of my seat! Everyone let out a gasp, and I hoped everyone was wearing their seatbelt, because if they weren't... uh oh, they'd go flying!! Fortunately, no went flying but unfortunately, that was it.
When we finally landed and got out, I was astonished. It was cooler here! It was as cool as in America!! I had expected it to be warm, but if not warm, at least humid. There were puddles on the ground from the rain that had fallen earlier. I could still smell the rain.
It was already 11:00 by the time we got to the hotel. It was super late! And I had to get up at 6:30? Wow, that was awful. The hotel was alright... it was livable in, up to my standards, at least. Afterwards, I got ready for bed. It was late by that time, with the two little ones wanting ramen noodles but eating really slowly. I fell asleep quickly.
