Swim team Tryout

On the day of my swim tryouts to get in the Stingrays I went to YMCA. I really wanted to get in the swim team so I was very excited. I was still a little scared because it was my first tryout. I was the last one. I quickly put on my cap and goggles and got in line.
There was a line of people who were trying out. In front of me was a little boy. The coach told us to do freestyle first. As I waited I looked at the people swimming. When it was my turn I jumped in and started swimming the best that I could. I swam fast but not as fast as I could. I stopped at the end of the wall and turned back.
Next we swam backstroke 1 length. I was a bit scared because I wasn’t very good and I was afraid of bumping my head on the wall. When I got to the flags I slowed down. Then I got out.
My favorite stroke was next. It was breaststroke. Nobody swam good breaststroke, I thought when I saw them swim. I swam as nicely as I could. After that was butterfly.
At the end the coach gave us a form to sign. I knew I was going to make it and I was
excited for the tryouts.

Bumper Boat

As my family drove on the road we saw bumper boats and stopped. My dad bought the tickets. We were the only people there so we didn’t have to wait. I was very happy I got to drive by myself.

I chose a yellow and blue striped bumper. M y sister and cousin chose a pink bumper. The seats were wet. I started off. As soon as I got near my sister I squirted water at her. She squirted back. I got a bit wet and I kept squirting and hid behind the motor. My sister drove away trying to avoid me. I drove over to my mom and squirted her. Then I felt something hitting my back. As soon as I turned around I bounced off of something. Quickly I pressed the squirting button and turned away.

I got away from my sister and cousin so I started squirting my mom again. After a while our turn was over. We parked our boats. I really wanted to do it again and so did my sister so we got tickets. I wasn’t very wet.

This time my cousin was driving herself. We waited in line. Soon it was our turn. I took the same boat as before. I was driving toward Jasmine but then something splashed me. It was my mom! There was a squirting thing outside of the pool. I drove over to my mom and sprayed water at her. She quickly ran away. I giggled and said “I won’t spray you if you don’t spray me.” I started getting my sister wet. Then I moved away and got my cousin a bit wet. She quickly sprayed me back.

Very soon our turn ended. I was very soaked but not as much as Jasmine. I was tired from getting wet so we went home.

Pirates Cove Mini Golf

On a cloudy day my family and I went to Pirates Cove for mini golf. I wasn’t very excited because I didn’t really like golf. As I looked around I saw some pirate boats. There were lots of fake pirates and treasure too.

I got a blue putt-putt and a red ball. As we crossed the bridge I noticed how green the water was. I wondered why. It was very weird. Then I spotted some green fish. That was probably why. But I didn’t know.

We got to the first hole. It was a small area with a hole not far away from where we start. My sister went first. She got it in with 3 shots. I hoped I could beat her. My dad taught me how to hold the putt-putt. I got it in with 5 shots. I wished I could do better next time.

The second hole it was a teensy bit harder. My dad showed me where to put my I tried to make sure I hit it straight. 3 shots! I was very happy, even though my dad was better. After a few more times we got into a cave. There were many rocks so it was pretty hard. I got it in with 3 shots. The next one I got it inside the hole with two shots. I was getting better. I was happy. Jasmine ran on to the next one while I was waiting for my mom.

Jasmine started calling me. I went over. She pointed at the hole and said” There’s a pipe going down leading to somewhere.” The group from below us told us the ball was down there. I quickly put my ball in the hole and went down. I saw a pipe and my ball popped out of it. I told my mom we were down here.

After a while, we got to a one with water. My dad blocked the water. My sister hit the ball away from the water. My dad said good but then my cousin hit the ball and it went in the water! Then my mom found out the water pushes the ball into a pipe. We all tried to get it in the water on purpose. At first my ball wouldn’t go down the pipe but then it went down. There was another that led to the place where we ended golfing.

I wasn’t that bad with mini golfing. I hoped we could do it again because it was pretty fun. My favorite was the one with pipes. I liked how cool the one with pipes were. I hoped next time I could get even better.

On Cannon Mountain

On a sunny Monday morning my family and I went to Cannon Mountain. I was excited because I loved to go on the huge tram way. As we drove by, I saw how big Mt. Lafayette was. The place on Cannon Mountain that the old man had been was all rocks. The tip of it was in the clouds.

In the tram way, I noticed how steep the trails were. They were very rocky. The director showed us a rock that looked like an old Indian man. I was amazed how rocks could form such cool shapes. We saw the sparkling water of Echo Lake. It was a big lake. As we got to the top the tram way swayed a little.

Right after I got out I felt cold. It was very windy. We started on the wet, sandy trail. I followed Jasmine who liked to lead. We stopped at a lookout. We took a few pictures. I saw lots of other mountains. My dad was showing me Mt. Lafayette when everybody left. My dad showed me a shortcut. It was wet and muddy.

After a while we got to the tower. From there I saw Mt. Lafayette. Suddenly, a huge cloud blocked me. I looked around. The cloud was covering everything! It was cool. We were in a cloud. All around me it was white and blank. Then it moved. I looked closely at Mt. Lafayette with the binoculars. I thought I saw six people.

We headed back. I was tired. Soon we got back. We went on another tram way back. I had lots of fun. My favorite thing was going on the tram way.

Biking on Washington and Brooklyn Bridge

My grandma, aunt, cousin, mom, dad, sister and I went biking on the Washington and Brooklyn Bridge. My cousin and Jasmine got a tag-along. I was in front of my dad and sister. We started out biking along Manhattan. I was very excited because I loved biking.

It was very sunny. After biking on the trail for a while we got to the street. First we were crossing the Washington Bridge. The bridge was made out of steel. It was green. I never knew there was a trail for bikes on the bridge. I thought that it would be hard.

The tour guide told us to turn our gears lower as we went up the hill. I put my gear to five so it would be easier for me to turn my gears down. When I started up there was a hill that I had to walk up. I found a flat place and got on. It seemed very easy to pedal. After going uphill for a while, I passed my grandma.

Suddenly, it started pouring. I was getting wet and freezing. My cousin was lucky because she had a coat. Soon we were going downhill. At the bottom the guide stopped. I told my mom I went down with only gear five. I was very proud.

Next we went on the Brooklyn Bridge. The bridge was made out of brick and was old. Now it is one hundred years old. It took many years to build. It was long and big. At the top we stopped to take some pictures. It started pouring worse. It was too bad I was wearing short sleeves. We went down the bridge. On the way back, it took a long time for us to get down.

After a while on the street we got back to the bike trail. It seemed like a long time before we got back. We returned our bikes and left. It was the best bike ride but would be better if it hadn’t rained.

Horseback Riding

On our last day of vacation we were going to ride horses. I really wanted to ride a horse. When we got to the stables, I saw that the horses were huge. I wondered how I would get on a horse so big.

The woman said “hello” and told us to find a helmet, and it was fine if we used a bike helmet. My mom said that I will wear my bike helmet. I already found a real helmet for riding horses. I wore that because I wanted to be a real horse rider.

The lady introduced us to our horses. My mom’s horse was named Appachi. It was white with brown spots. My grandma’s was white. Jasmine’s is white and is named Adam. Mine’s was brown. It was named Mariah. My dad’s is the same color as mine and is called Hotshot.

We started on the trail. I was behind Adam. It was very fun but a little wobbly. After a while we got in the forest. As soon as we got in the forest, Mariah started eating tree leaves. Adam was far ahead. I told Mariah to catch up. She started trotting. It was very bumpy. I had to hold on tight. We caught up to Adam right before we crossed the brook.

Suddenly, Mariah passed Adam and went behind Appachi. We arrived at a field. Everybody stopped. Hotshot suddenly turned around and ran. We waited for the woman to get him back. While we were waiting, Mariah started eating hay. I tried to make her stop but she wouldn’t stop. Finally, Hotshot came back and Mariah stopped eating.

At last we got to the stable. Appachi immediately ran to the food. Appachi loved to eat, too. Before we left, we each gave our horse a treat. I had fun and couldn’t wait until I got to ride another horse.

Biking

Before we went to our hotel, we were going biking. I have a shiny purple bike. Jasmine wasn’t on tag-along, so she had her pink ‘Barbie’ bike. We couldn’t fit my dad’s bike in the car so we had to go to the bike rental. We got my dad’s bike.

I was the first one on the bike trail. It was very sunny. Suddenly, I heard someone behind me. I turned around to look. Jasmine was catching up! She told me to stop. I stopped. But then she passed me! I biked after her and passed Jasmine.

I looked around me. I saw a lake, and a sailboat. My mom said we should take a break. I drank some water. Then I saw huge, dark stratus clouds. I told my mom. She said that we would go back anyway because my dad needed to return his bike.

On our way back, we needed to cross a road. Jasmine couldn’t stop so she accidently biked into the road. The drivers saw her and stopped. We quickly ran across the road to see if she was okay. She was fine.

We started back to our car. We passed a pond and stopped to drink some water. I picked a couple flowers and found a feather. I started feeling raindrops so we biked to our car. I had fun and was very tired.
